Overview
Black Moon is a lifestyle, relationship, and self-discovery app operated by Magic Unicorn Inc. The app offers guided chat, profile-based insights, compatibility reads, and connection profile image and text generation. We collect and process only the data needed to run those features, secure the service, fulfill subscriptions, and respond to support requests.
Data we collect
Information you provide in the app
- Your first name or display name.
- Your birth date, optional birth time, and birth city that you enter during onboarding or in profile settings.
- Your selected feature preference, compatibility inputs, connection profile preference, and in-app support requests.
- Your chat prompts and the text you submit for guided readings, relationship questions, and connection profile generation.
Information we collect automatically
- An app-specific install identifier stored in the iOS keychain and sent to our backend to keep sessions and deletion requests consistent.
- App Attest session records and related security tokens used to protect the service from abuse.
- Apple Push Notification device tokens if you allow notifications.
- Operational records such as request timing, request status, feature usage related to backend calls, and error codes needed for service health and rate limiting.
Information kept only on your device unless you ask us to use a server feature
- Your locally cached app state, including chat history, generated connection cards, and scroll position.
- Locally derived profile calculations and any birth coordinates produced on device.
- StoreKit entitlement state used to reflect your current subscription status in the app UI.
How we use data
- To personalize Black Moon features using the profile details you choose to enter.
- To generate chat responses, connection portraits, and related text and image outputs.
- To register push notifications and deliver reminders only if you opt in.
- To operate subscriptions, restore purchases, and show the correct access state inside the app.
- To enforce security controls such as App Attest validation, session management, and rate limiting.
- To measure latency, failures, and backend health so we can keep the service reliable.
- To respond to support issues and maintain a record of support conversations.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell personal data and we do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Third-party services we use
- Apple for App Store billing, StoreKit subscription processing, push notifications, and certain iOS platform services.
- KIE.ai as our AI processing provider for chat generation and connection profile text and image generation. When you use those features, the request content needed to produce the result may be sent through our backend to KIE.ai.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our backend, database, and static website delivery.
What we send to AI services
When you use AI-powered features, we may send the content of your request and the profile fields needed to generate a relevant result. Depending on the feature, that can include your display name, profile summary, birth city or country, selected connection preference, age range information derived from your profile, and the text you submit in chat or support. We do not send your raw push token, your exact stored birth coordinates, or your App Attest secrets to our AI provider.
We require our service providers to protect the data they process for us and to use it only for providing the requested service.
Retention
Local app state remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or remove the app from your device.
On our backend, install-linked records such as support feedback, connection profile job records, saved results, request metrics, and security session records are retained for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, investigate problems, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. App session tokens expire automatically. If you use the in-app delete account control or contact us with a verified deletion request, we delete the server-side records linked to your current install identifier that our systems can locate.
Your choices
- You can choose whether to enable push notifications.
- You can edit your profile details inside the app.
- You can use the in-app delete account option to remove locally stored data and request deletion of install-linked backend records.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings. Subscription billing is handled by Apple, not by Magic Unicorn.
- You can contact us at support@magicunicorninc.com to request access to or deletion of data associated with your use of the app.
Security
We use app-session controls, App Attest-backed verification, HTTPS transport, and access controls intended to protect the service and limit abuse. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to reduce exposure and keep sensitive provider keys off the device.
